How it works

From selected text to an answer in one right-click

Prompt Hop adds one entry to Chrome's right-click menu. Everything else happens on the AI site you choose.

  1. 1

    Select text on any page

    An article, an error message, a code snippet, a word you don't know.

  2. 2

    Right-click, then pick

    Prompt Hop › Summarize › ChatGPT. Each prompt opens your favourite AI first; the others sit in the submenu.

  3. 3

    The prompt is typed and sent

    A small window opens on that AI's site beside your page, fills in the prompt and presses send for you.

The details

Small things that make it feel right

Code arrives intact

Chrome's own copy of a selection flattens line breaks. Prompt Hop reads the selection itself, so indentation and new lines reach the AI as you see them.

Flattened
def hop(n): for i in range(n): print("hop", i)
With Prompt Hop
def hop(n):
    for i in range(n):
        print("hop", i)

A small window, or a tab

The answer opens next to your page so you keep your place. Prefer tabs? One setting.

Review before it goes

Turn auto-send off and Prompt Hop only types the prompt. You press send.

Temporary chat

Open ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok in their temporary or incognito chat, so the conversation stays out of your history.

Patient when a site needs you

If an AI site asks you to log in or complete a security check, Prompt Hop waits and carries on when you're done. If a site changes and typing fails, your prompt is copied to the clipboard so nothing is lost.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Something else on your mind? Ask us through the support form.

Do I need an account on the AI sites?

Mostly no. ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode and Duck.ai work without an account. Perplexity and Grok work as a guest with some limits. Claude and DeepSeek need you to be logged in.

Prompt Hop uses the logins you already have in Chrome, and its settings page shows which sites you are logged in to.

What data does Prompt Hop collect?

None. Prompt Hop has no server and no analytics. When you click a menu item, the text you selected goes only to the AI site you picked. Your templates and settings stay in your browser. Answers are never read.

Is it free? Do I need an API key?

Prompt Hop is free, and there are no API keys. It opens the AI website itself, so you get whatever that site gives you, on your own account or as a guest.

Which browsers does it work in?

Google Chrome on desktop. Install it from the Chrome Web Store.

Can I change the prompts or add my own?

Yes. Every prompt can be edited, you can add your own, and you choose which AI each one opens first. The other AIs stay one step away in the submenu.

What happens if an AI site changes and typing fails?

Prompt Hop copies your prompt to the clipboard instead, so you can paste it yourself. If a site asks you to log in or pass a security check, Prompt Hop waits and carries on when you are done.
