Prompt Hop Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
Prompt Hop is a browser extension that sends text you select on a web page to an AI chat website you choose.
What Prompt Hop handles
- Selected text. When you click a Prompt Hop menu item, Prompt Hop reads the text you selected on that page, puts it into the prompt template you picked, and types it into the AI website you picked (for example chatgpt.com or gemini.google.com). This only happens when you click, and the text goes only to that website.
- Your settings and templates. Stored locally in your browser with Chrome's storage API. They never leave your device unless you export them yourself.
- Login status. To show whether you are logged in to each supported AI website, Prompt Hop checks whether that site's session cookie exists, or asks the site's own account endpoint from your browser. Cookie values are not stored, copied or sent anywhere.
What Prompt Hop does not do
- It has no server. The developer receives none of your data.
- It collects no analytics, telemetry or advertising identifiers.
- It does not read, store or send the AI's answers.
- It does not sell or share data with anyone.
Third-party websites
The AI websites you send text to (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Perplexity, xAI, DeepSeek, DuckDuckGo) process that text under their own privacy policies. Please review them before sending sensitive information.
